1. 日本刀の「刀置き」を模した、木工職人の矜持が宿るデザイン
“A design inspired by the Japanese Katana stand, embodying the pride and mastery of wood artisans.”
「3P tray」の最大の特徴は、日本刀の刀置きをモチーフにした美しいフォルムです。1本の無垢材から職人が丁寧な手仕事で削り出すことで、大量生産品にはない希少性と極上の木目を引き出しています。いかに美しい木目や貴重な木柄であっても、デザインの美しさを極めるために厳しい選別を行う。それこそが、日常の空間を上質へと昇華させるM.SCOOPのこだわりです。

3. 2015年の発売以来、本質を守りながら進化し続ける「デザインと品質」

M.SCOOP「3P tray & 2P tray」開発秘話
なぜ私たちは「ペン置き」という場所へ、ここまで強い想いを注ぐのか？
“Why do we pour such deep passion into something as simple as a pen rest?”
M.SCOOPのラインナップには、1本用から複数本用まで、ペン関連のアイテムが数多く存在します。すべてが木の表情を活かしたデザイン性を重視した製品です。 その背景には、2012年に行ったリ・ブランディングがあります（詳細は「P.Weight」のストーリーに譲りますが）、私たちは「毎日使用するこだわりのモノ」「世界共通のツール」として、「腕時計、眼鏡、ペン、モバイル」を心地よく置くためのアイテム開発に乗り出しました。
その中でも「ペン」には最も強い想いがあり、一時は「ペン置きのブランド」を目指したほどです。他にはないバリエーションと、唯一無二の存在感を持つペン置きを作りたい──。
転機は2015年1月、初の海外展示会を控えた新作開発の席でした。パートナーである「ドリルデザイン」さんとの打ち合わせで、私たちは胸に秘めていた強い想いをぶつけました。

「やはり、日本人の思想や精神性を宿したアイテムを作りたい。侍の魂ともいえる『刀置き』をモチーフに、ペン置きをデザインしてもらえないだろうか」
““We want to create a piece that embodies the mindset and spirituality of Japan. We’d like you to design a pen rest inspired by the Katana stand—the very soul of the samurai.””
かつて侍が携えていた刀は、大切な人を守るためのものでした。一日の無事を感謝し、刀を刀置きへと戻すその一連の美しい所作。時代が移り変わり、手にするものが刀からペンへと変わっても、「日常を支えてくれる大切な道具へ感謝を捧げ、神聖な場所へと還す」という精神は、現代を生きる私たちの心にも深く響くはずだと信じたのです。
“The Katana once carried by the samurai was meant to protect those they held dear. Returning the sword to its stand at the end of the day—a graceful gesture of gratitude for a safe day passed. Though times have changed and the sword has become a pen, we believed this mindset would still deeply resonate with us today: offering thanks to the vital tools that support our daily lives, and returning them to a sacred place of rest.”
この「道具への感謝とリスペクト」という私たちの思想に共感していただき、2本用と3本用の美しいペン置きが誕生しました。展示会を経て「3P tray」「2P tray」と名付けられたこのプロダクトは、2015年の発売から今日に至るまで、その姿を変えることなく、多くの人の「大切な道具の帰る場所」として愛され続けています。

Unveiled at the exhibition as the ‘3P tray’ and ‘2P tray,’ they have remained completely unchanged in form since their release in 2015. To this day, they continue to be cherished by many as a welcoming home for their most prized tools.”
